ST. LOUIS - Many high schools and school districts around the St. Louis area are being recognized not only as Missouri’s best, but also as some of the finest in the nation.Niche.com recently released its 2024 Best Schools and Districts rankings. A research team analyzed data from tens of thousands of public schools, private schools, and school districts nationwide to create the rankings. George Draper named Chief Training Officer for St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office Schools and districts were graded on a variety of factors, including overall academics, teachers and resources. College prep, diversity and activities were also key considerations. The St. Louis area dominated the Top 10 lists for best public schools, private schools and school districts in Missouri. ST. LOUIS - An O'Fallon, Missouri, man who left the scene of a deadly crash in St. Louis City nearly three years ago will spend several years behind bars.A judge has sentenced John W. Springer, 41, to seven years in prison in connection with the crash. Missouri minister among those who died in chemical truck crash According to charging documents, Springer was speeding at least 30 mph above the speed limit when he struck 39-year-old Melissa Bassett on Oct. 16, 2020. The crash happened at North Broadway and Jackson Street in the city’s Baden neighborhood. Bassett died nearly two weeks after the collision. According to charging documents, a witness saw Springer drive off after the crash. He later pleaded guilty last year to a felony count of fleeing a crash resulting in death. Cell phones, TVs and radios across the U.S. will get an alert Wednesday, Oct. 4, afternoon during a nationwide test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System.FEMA will conduct the test to ensure the Wireless Emergency Alerts and the Emergency Alert System are effective in warning the public about national emergencies.Starting about 12:20 p.m. (2:20 p.m. EST) for about 30 minutes, mobile phones with all major U.S. wireless providers within range of an active cell tower will receive the test for the Wireless Emergency Alerts part of the test.IMPORTANT: On Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 2:20 p.m. ET, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios, and TVs.This is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years. Temperatures in the 30s were widespread across the Colorado high country Tuesday morning, and snow has fallen in many locations. That means it’s time for snowmaking to begin, and at least three Colorado ski areas are doing so, in hopes of opening later this month.Arapahoe Basin began making snow on Sept. 23 while Loveland and Copper Mountain turned on the snow guns overnight Tuesday. Police responded to a bomb threat made against a charter school in the University Park neighborhood of Los Angeles Tuesday morning. The threat made via telephone against New Designs Charter School was received at about 8:17 a.m. Tuesday, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.Officers were sent to the school, located at 2303 S.
