ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- The Nourish New York program was created during the pandemic as a way to help with the disrupted food chain which is now a permanent program, but a state audit from the Comptroller's Office shows there isn’t enough oversight for Nourish New York. Experts say one in 10 New Yorkers suffer with food insecurity. The program was created to alleviate that issue as well as helping local farmers by connecting them with food banks. "So it provides money for food banks to purchase directly from New York State farmers so they get the freshest produce, they get local milk products that are then distributed to people in need and regional food banks, and in pantries all across the state," explained Steve Ammerman, Director of Communications for the New York Farm Bureau. Ammerman said more than 4000 farms have taken part in the program. State comptroller Tom DiNapoli told Capitol Correspondent, Amal Tlaige, this is a win-win program, but there’s room for improvement. A business professor and real estate attorney at some of the city’s top firms has been barred from practicing law for 30 months because she carried on a years-long lie.Cindy Lowery-Graber, who has been a lawyer in Colorado since 2002, was working in the Denver office of international firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in summer 2015 when she was introduced to a client who was having issues with the title of their home. She determined that a quiet title action — litigation used for simple property disputes — was the best route. But she never filed the action, according to an admission she signed last month.“In April 2016, (Lowery-Graber) informed the client that the complaint was filed, that she expected no responsive answers to be filed and that she would move for default,” that admission explains. “This was not true. No complaint had been filed.”“This message began a pattern of communications…where she represented that a complaint had been filed, that her law firm was waiting on...Shops at Northfield owner eyes closure of private interior street
