Illinoisans got poorer in 2022, new Census data shows (NEXSTAR) – 2022 was a rough year for Illinoisans, newly released U.S. Census Bureau data indicates. The state is one of 17 which saw its median household income drop. Nationwide, the median household income was $74,755 in 2022 – nearly 1% lower than the year before when you account for inflation. Income inequality also increased.Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin make up the rest of the states where household income took a dip in 2022. Social Security beneficiaries can expect a 2024 increase: reports Five states, meanwhile, actually saw their median household income grow last year. Those are: Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Florida, and Utah. Man seriously injured when firework explodes on his head LANCASTER, Calif. - A man suffered severe injuries after witnesses say a firework exploded on his head in Lancaster Wednesday evening.The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. outside a home in the 1300 block of West Boyden Avenue. Witnesses told news photographer Don Luis Meza that the man put the explosive on top of his motorcycle helmet and lit it.A helmet is seen after someone apparently lit a firework from it on Sept. 13, 2023. (DonLuisMeza)They said the man thought the firework would launch from the top of his head but, instead, it exploded. Video showed a portion of the helmet had been crushed by the firework.
