Schenectady Police increasing patrols after home invasion SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Woodlawn is known as a quiet neighborhood, but people have noticed increased crime in recent months. Now they want police to get involved, especially around kings road.In the last month, there were 16 robberies and a home break-in where police say two people in the home were armed and ended up shooting and injuring one of the intruders.“Again, I’m not bashing the police. But we want help on Kings Road,” one resident said.There is also an issue on the road with the current speed limit.“We’re now asking for stop signs on Kings Road. Because [a person’s] son and granddaughter almost got struck just getting out of their car. Kings Road is a nightmare now.”Adam Nowicki is a Traffic Commande for Schenectady Police, and he says that adding stop signs or speed cameras is not a quick fix, but they’re working on it.“We recognize Kings Road is a hotbed as far as speeding is concerned. Man arrested in alleged kidnapping that was caught on camera in Commerce; victim found A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping that was captured on camera in Commerce Tuesday afternoon.At 4:21 p.m., a woman was quickly walking down Couts Avenue while talking on a cell phone when a man pulled up, the LASD said in a news release.The man, who exited his silver 2016-17 Kia Rio with a handgun, pistol-whipped the woman as she was trying to get away and dragged her into the car's passenger seat before driving away, the LASD added.The unidentified man was taken into custody around 2 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and abduction. Authorities search for man missing out of El Monte Authorities with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a 44-year-old man missing out of El Monte.  Peter Ramirez was last seen Monday, April 17, at the intersection of Dufree Avenue and Valley Boulevard.  Described as a Hispanic male, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds, Ramirez was last seen wearing a black jacket, black Adidas sweatpants and a black beanie. Peter Ramirez, 44, was last seen April 17 at the intersection of Dufree Avenue and Valley Boulevard in El Monte. Man and woman found dead in car in L.A. County Authorities with the Irwindale Police Department are seeking the public’s help after a man and woman were found dead in a car in Azusa on Wednesday. Police responded to a report of a man who was found dead in a car at Jan’s Towing company around 12:30 p.m. The car was towed by Jan’s Towing company following a request from the owner of the Arco gas station located at 110 E. Longden Avenue, according to a press release. When authorities arrived and began investigating, they found the reported dead man and another dead woman in the car. Their cause of death is unknown. Detectives are conducting an investigation with both the Arco gas station and Jan’s Towing company. Civic Center BART Station reopens; trains delayed SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Police activity at the Civic Center BART station caused major delays across BART on Wednesday evening. BART announced at 6:01 p.m. that the Civic Center station was closed due to police activity. It reopened approximately an hour later. "There is a major delay at San Francisco stations in the SFO, Millbrae, Daly City and East Bay directions due to police activity," BART said.Muni is providing bus service between the 16th Street, Civic Center and Powell stations as BART is delayed. Deer tests positive for COVID in El Dorado County (KRON) -- SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, was detected for the first time in free-ranging California wildlife, according to state officials. A mule deer buck in El Dorado County was confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said Wednesday. In California, SARS-CoV-2 has been confirmed in pets and zoo animals, but never in free-ranging wildlife before.The deer did not show any outward signs of illness. The deer was harvested in 2021 by a hunter and later tested for disease by CDFW. After reports of SARS-CoV-2 detections in free-ranging white-tailed deer and mule deer in other states and Canadian provinces, CDFW began testing archived deer samples for SARS-CoV-2. CDFW submitted archived samples from 170 black-tailed and mule deer collected in 2020 and 209 black-tailed and mule deer collected in 2021.
